There's not a whole lot of choices when you're in the booming metropolis of Defuniak Springs, you know? At the urging of our instructor, this is where we ended up for dinner after the first day of our certification dives nearby. And no lie, it seriously feels like you're at your mom and dad's house. Or in this case, my aunt's house, because she's the one with the dark wood and the cross stitch and such. It was very homey, but not in a cheesy overdone kind of way. The menu was pretty straightforward -- a few apps, a couple of salads, some thin crust pizza offerings, pasta, and a dozen or so regular entrees -- and prices were very reasonable. Entrees ranged from a 4 dollar 6oz burger to a 19 dollar filet, with most falling in the 11 to 12 dollar range. I didn't want to eat anything too heavy since we would be diving again the next day, so I went simple with the "Create Your Own Pasta" section: four choices of pasta for $3 - $4 (spaghetti, fettucine, ravioli, tortellini), four choices of sauce for an additional $3 - $5 (tomato sauce, eat sauce, alfredo, and scampi butter) and choice of meat for another $3 - $4 (meatballs, shrimp, chicken, and Italian sausage). I toyed with the idea of getting just spaghetti with tomato sauce, but decided maybe it wouldn't be enough since it was only six bucks and added chicken as well for another $3. Boy was that a mistake - HUGE portion of pasta, plenty of sauce, and an entire grilled chicken breast sliced right there on top of it all. I made a valiant attempt to finish it all, but still ended up with a ton left over. This could have easily made two meals. The sauce itself was tasty, and the chicken was moist and flavorful. Definitely not what I was expecting for the price, especially considering we were out in the middle of nowhere. Not many choices in restaurants usually leads to some pretty bleh food, but I enjoyed mine just fine and so did everyone else in our group of six. Service was friendly and adequate and our meals came quickly. We paid at the front register (which you can't miss when you walk in the door) and rolled out with bellies way-too-full. Will definitely be back here if we ever end up in the area diving again. This would probably only be a 3 - 3.5 star review in a normal town, but it should definitely rate as one of the better places to eat out here, so a good 4 on a curve. :)

We are new to the area and had heard good things about this restaurant. We had dinner there last Thursday night for the Prime Rib night - we were there at 7:00- a little wait but we found out they had been out of the prime rib for almost an hour! I don't understand how they can promote a special and not have enough to serve your customers! Shows bad planning. I've heard that this is not unusual for them. The chicken Parmesan was fair to good- good Caesar salad was good- dessert- Italian cream cake did not taste fresh- pretty dry. Probably won't be back.

Lovely spot to stop to eat. Easy access from I-10. We ate pasta, eggplant and broccoli. Everything was delicious. Friendly waitstaff and hostess. We would eat here again.

I have ate here before the make over and now I have ate here after the make over. I think it has gotten worse. Prices went up food went down. I gave one star because you can't give zero. I had the lasagna and I swear to god it come straight out of a frozen microwave dinner. I had a house salad and before the make over they were actually good now it's crap. I suggest you go back to what u had.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
